Extraordinary Sitting of NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs

At November 7 extraordinary sitting moderated by Babken Tunyan, the RA NA Standing Committee on Economic Affairs debated the bill on Making Addenda to RA Tax Code authored by the NA deputy Mikayel Melkumyan.

As a result of debates, the Committee members gave negative conclusion to the draft law.

The draft law on Reduction of Damage Causing Health as a Consequence of the Use Tobacco and Their Substitutes and Their Prevention was debated in the first reading.

The MPs voiced issues which related to the increase of the turnover of the cigarettes of fake unknown origin as a consequence of the rise of tobacco prices, the small and medium entities, the possible economic damages of tobacco producing organizations, the tobacco export and import, the sale of cigarettes in the public eating places, ban of tobacco product exhibition in the trade halls and other problems.

As the Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan has assured, the high price and fines of cigarettes will make the peoplerefuse from bad custom of using tobacco.

As a result of debate, a decision was made to postpone the voting up to two months.

The draft law on Making Amendments and Addenda to the RA Law on Organization and Holding of Check-Ups in the RA was endorsed.
